Frequently Asked Questions
Naturopathic Medicine
Why are our visits so long?
Here at Seed Integrative Medicine, we value your story. One of the tenets of Naturopathic Medicine is to ‘Identify the Root Cause’ of disease. We will ask you questions on key information you’ve shared on your intake. We may also perform physical exams, blood-type testing and a urinalysis.

When can you expect results?
Everyone is different! The goal is to see some changes, by 3-6 months. You must remain diligent in your healing journey. Inevitably, your behaviors will determine your success!

How many supplements will we recommend?
Expect between 2-5 supplements, at a time. You may also receive recommendations on herbs to brew and drink.
Where can you get your supplements?
We advise against ordering supplements from unverified sources. For example, counterfeit supplements are commonly sold on Amazon.com. Our solution is to give you access to our online dispensary called FullScript. Supplements will be made available, once your visit is complete. We also provide clients with a 20% discount on their orders.
How do you take a homeopathic remedy?
If you are recommended a homeopathic remedy, please dose at the specified frequency, provided in your consult notes. Remedies should be taken at least 15 minutes away from consuming foods/drinks and exposure to strong mints (e.g., toothpaste or essential oils). Store remedy bottles in a dark space.
Why don’t we take insurance?
Pennsylvania Residents:
This answer is two-fold. As of now, Naturopathic Doctors are unable to apply for insurance programs, in the State of Pennsylvania. Work is being done, on a state-level, to rectify this issue but it may take time. We will keep you updated on this progress.
Secondly, there are many challenges providers can face, with taking insurance. Not only can we be underpaid, there are many instances when insurance companies will choose not to pay, at all. The uncertainty is worrisome. This is why Seed Integrative Medicine is a cash-based practice. It provides piece of mind for both the practitioner and the client.
Can you pay with your HSA accounts?
Yes! We can also provide you with a superbill, upon request.
How do we order lab work?
Pennsylvania Residents:
Specialty labs can be ordered through third-party organizations, such as Lab API and Rupa Health. Lab costs are out-of-pocket, as Dr. Rachelle cannot order labs through your insurance. If you prefer, we can provide you with a detailed list of labs. That way, you can share it with your primary provider, who will ultimately make the decision to order them for you.

Connecticut Residents:
As a licensed physician in the State of Connecticut, we can order all of your basic labs through Quest Diagnostics. They will be covered by your insurance. If additional specialty lab work is needed, we will discuss out-of-pocket costs.

How many visits can you expect to have?
After your initial visit, we typically would like to check in with you, in 1-3 months. We may also perform a third follow-up, 3-6 months later. This all depends on your progress.

Can you also do Acupuncture, in conjunction with Naturopathy?
Yes! These two healing modalities work well together and can support you on a deeper level
Acupuncture
How should you prepare for a treatment?
Stay hydrated and avoid foods or drinks that will stain your tongue.

What should you wear?
Dress comfortably. We may ask you to remove articles of clothing, if they are too tight. We will provide draping, so you are not left exposed.

Why do we look at your tongue and feel your pulse?
Tongue and pulse diagnoses are traditional tools used to identify disharmony. Each are considered microsystems that reflect your entire body. Feel free to ask the practitioner, what they observe!

Does acupuncture hurt?
It should not. Some points are known to be more sensitive than others but we can practice breathing techniques to help ease your senses. If something does feel painfully sharp, please let the practitioner know immediately.

Do we do community acupuncture?
No, we do not. During each session, you will be the only patient in the office. This gives the practitioner more time to monitor you and perform adjunctive therapies (e.g., moxibustion, electrical stimulation, gua sha and/or cupping).

How many visits should you expect to have?
Every case will have its own, unique set of expectations. Some conditions may require weekly treatments, at first. Others may be more spread out. Regardless, the goal is to get you to a state of wellness, that doesn’t require frequent work-ups. We will outline goals during each visit, and use them as markers, for your progress.

When can you expect results?
Everyone is different! If no notable change is seen after 8 visits, you may be advised to incorporate other forms of medicine, to help you on your journey.

What should you do after a treatment?
Keep hydrated and take it easy! You may feel tired, emotional or sore after a session.

Will we recommend supplements during an acupuncture consult?
This is very uncommon. Oftentimes, clients will consider going through a naturopathic consult to receive these recommendations.
